Η Δρ. Μαρία Χριστίνα Χειμωνίδη εργάζεται στο Δίκτυο ΠΡΑΞΗ/ΙΤΕ και σύντομα θα αναλάβει καθήκοντα Εθνικού Σημείου Επαφής (ΕΣΕ-NCP) για τις θεματικές MSCA, EIC και ERC. Είναι μοριακή βιολόγος με MSc στην εξωσωματική αναπαραγωγή και PhD στη βιολογία του καρκίνου και του διαβήτη, συγγραφέας πολλών πρωτότυπων ερευνητικών δημοσιεύσεων, κριτής σε επιστημονικά περιοδικά, με συμμετοχή σε εθνικά και ευρωπαϊκά συνέδρια. Διαθέτει πολυετή εμπειρία στη συγγραφή, διαχείριση και υλοποίηση εθνικών και ευρωπαϊκών ερευνητικών προγραμμάτων καθώς και στην αξιοποίηση των ερευνητικών τους αποτελεσμάτων. Πραγματοποίησε μεταδιδακτορικές σπουδές στην αναζήτηση εξατομικευμένων διαγνωστικών λύσεων στο διαβήτη τύπου ΙΙ και στον καρκίνο του μαστού με χρήση τεχνητής νοημοσύνης (ΑΙ). Είναι πρώην CSO και Co-Founder της start up ABCureD (αναζήτηση βιοδεικτών και νέων φαρμακευτικών στόχων με μεθόδους μηχανικής μάθησης - machine learning, η οποία απέσπασε το 1ο βραβείο στα βραβεία NBG Business Seed 2023 και το 1ο βραβείο στα βραβεία 3rd HBio Hellenic Biocluster Innovation Awards 2023.
Dr. Maria Christina Cheimonidi is a member of PRAXI Network/FORTH, soon to be NCP for MSCA, EIC, ERC and a former Post Doc of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IMBB/FORTH). She acquired her first degree (Bsc) in Molecular Biology and Genetics from Democritus University of Thrace. She holds an Msc in Reproductive science and Women's health by UCL London. Christina is a PhD holder in the biology of diabetes and cancer by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Her research work focuses on AI-enabled personalised diagnotics on type II diabetes and breast cancer. She has numerous publications in open access peer reviewed journals and considerable experience in proposal writing and project implementation in national and European programmes. Christina is familiar with the valorization of research as she has entrepreneurial experience as a former chief scientific officer (CSO) and co-founder of a prize-winning start-up (winners of 1st Prize at the NBG Business Seed Awards 2023 and at the 3rd HBio Hellenic Biocluster Innovation Awards 2023), dedicated in new biomarkers and new drugable targets through machine learning.
