International Health Day 2026: Business opportunities in the healthcare sector in Vienna

EKT, as the coordinator of Enterprise Europe Network Hellas, was a co-organizer of the B2B meetings.

Business meetings, with the participation of Greek companies and organizations, took place במסגרת του International Health Day 2026 on March 24–25, 2026, in Vienna and online. The National Documentation and Electronic Content Center (EKT), coordinator of Enterprise Europe Network Hellas, participated as a co-organizer of the event, confirming its active role in the European research and innovation ecosystem.

International Health Day was organized by the Enterprise Europe Network and brought together businesses, startups, scaleups from across the healthcare sector, as well as academic and research institutions and policymakers from all over Europe.

This year’s event offered high-quality content, meaningful discussions, and targeted networking opportunities for international collaborations. EKT was represented by Zoi Atsipoulianaki, Innovation Advisor at Enterprise Europe Network Hellas for the healthcare sector and National Contact Point for Health and the Cancer Mission under Horizon Europe.

Key themes

In full alignment with the agenda presented prior to the event, discussions focused on critical pillars shaping the future of healthcare:

  • Mental health as a priority for policy and innovation
  • Artificial intelligence and digital transformation, with emphasis on practical applications
  • Regulatory frameworks and compliance in the pharmaceutical sector
  • Internationalization and market expansion, supported by real case studies

The discussions highlighted real market challenges, from regulatory complexity to the difficulty of scaling into new markets.

One key takeaway was clear: technology has reached a new level of maturity. Artificial intelligence, robotics, and automation were not presented as “the future,” but as already operational tools that:

  • improve diagnosis
  • enhance the efficiency of healthcare systems
  • reshape the patient experience

B2B matchmaking

Business and technology meetings—both via the b2match platform and in person—formed the core of the event.

Greek participation, supported by EKT and Enterprise Europe Network Hellas, made strong use of these opportunities, focusing on building international partnerships, exploring new markets, and exchanging know-how.

Particular interest was observed in Central and Eastern European markets, with Poland standing out as an emerging hub for HealthTech and Life Sciences.

One of the most notable aspects of the event was the emphasis on practical, implementable solutions through international collaboration. This included:

  • integrated solutions for healthcare infrastructure and rehabilitation
  • digital tools for managing treatment processes
  • innovations such as sensory feedback technologies for prosthetics

The role of EKT and the Greek perspective

EKT, as coordinator of Enterprise Europe Network Hellas and National Contact Point for Health under Horizon Europe, played a key role in strengthening the Greek presence.

Through its support of Greek businesses and organizations:

access to international networks was facilitated
visibility of Greek innovations and solutions was enhanced
foundations for new collaborations were established

In an environment where adaptability and internationalization are essential for sustainability, support from internationally recognized networks and key innovation stakeholders is crucial for the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises.
