Hellenic Association of Political Scientists uses EKT’s eJournals service for the digital edition of its journals

In its collaboration with the Hellenic Association of Political Scientists (HAPSc), EKT provides the necessary infrastructure for the digital edition of the association’s journals: HAPSc Policy Briefs Series, International Journal of Non-Profit Sector Empowerment and Journal of Politics and Ethics in New Technologies and AI.

The Hellenic Association of Political Scientists (HAPSc) elected to make three scientific journals available online for the public using the eJournals electronic service developed by the National Documentation Centre (EKT).

In its collaboration with the Hellenic Association of Political Scientists (HAPSc), EKT provides the necessary infrastructure for the digital edition of the association’s journals: HAPSc Policy Briefs Series, International Journal of Non-Profit Sector Empowerment and Journal of Politics and Ethics in New Technologies and AI, while the Hellenic Association of Political Scientists is responsible for the scientific editing of the content of the publications

The three HAPSc journals use the double-blind review system and publish two issues per year. There are no submission or publication costs for the authors as the journals are fully funded by the Hellenic Association of Political Scientists.

HAPSc Policy Briefs Series

The HAPSc Policy Briefs Series is an international open access scientific journal, established in 2020 with the aim of concisely and coherently presenting information on current issues and sharing interdisciplinary approaches to the analysis and development of policy proposals. This bi-annual publication aims to promote multilingual and interdisciplinary dialogue by providing summaries of relevant research, suggesting possible policy options or presenting specific actions, measures and policies.

The policies featured in the HAPSc Policy Briefs Series articles come from across the spectrum of local, national, regional and international governance, promoting research and disseminating

information to non-specialists at all levels of planning and policy-making. Issues of the journal are published in June and December.

Five issues of the journal have been published to date and 155 scientific articles are available for reading on the HAPSc Policy Briefs Series website. More information about the journal is available here.

International Journal of Non-Profit Sector Empowerment

The aim of the new International Journal of Non-Profit Sector Empowerment, published by the HAPSc, is to act as a research forum for issues concerning the non-profit sector, particularly its potential and the challenges it faces.

Non-profit sector actors, from large international non-governmental organisations to local organisations, play an increasingly important role in societies and are an integral part of modern (national and international) systems. Their work improves the lives of millions of people worldwide, where both governments and markets fail. In today’s world, it is important to study how the non-profit sector can be strengthened and how institutions and mechanisms can promote transparency and efficiency.

The journal uses the double-blind review system, and publishes two issues per year, in March and September. Accepted articles are published online within one week of acceptance.

Journal of Politics and Ethics in New Technologies and AI

The Journal of Politics and Ethics in New Technologies and AI is a new international scientific journal that aims to promote scientific dialogue regarding the political, ethical and, consequently, social dimensions of the applications of new technologies and artificial intelligence.

The journal welcomes submissions that explore the impact of the digital revolution across its range of applications or discuss the regulatory, ethical and development aspects that arise. The journal is published twice a year, in February and August. Accepted articles are published online within one week of acceptance.

ΕΚΤ’s ePublishing service eJournals

The eJournals service is part of EKT’s ePublishing platform for the digital publication and hosting of electronic journals, conference proceedings and monographs/books.

The eJournals service for publishing and hosting journals is designed for scientific publishers, academic and research institutions of the country, folklore institutions and cultural organisations that choose to make their scientific output Open Access. Through this service, co-operating

publishers can create a new scientific journal from the beginning and transfer their publishing activity to a new upgraded and constantly evolving digital environment.

At the same time, immediate viewing and dissemination of the scientific work is provided and direct access of wider groups of users to the new scientific knowledge produced in Greece is ensured.

The eJournals service for the digital publication of scientific and thematic journals is provided through an online electronic publishing environment of high technical and quality standards, covering all stages of the publishing process. The publishers of the journals can, among other things:

  • upgrade and systematise publishing processes and standardise publication workflows at all levels,
  • use online management of processes at all stages of publishing activity through the open software OJS (Open Journal System),
  • offer authors the chance of online submission of assignments and monitoring of the publishing process,
  • provide their readers with a friendly environment for navigation, specialised search, reading and uploading of publications,
  • make the metadata of their publications available through specialised information and social networking tools (e.g. RSSfeed).

Through the above actions, the readability of journals increases, promoting academic communication and the efficient research process. EKT assigns a DOI to each article, thereby registering the publications of researchers, scientists and academics in indexing bases (Scopus) contributing to their development.

To date, 73 journals providing access to the content of 18,379 articles are available on the eJournals publishing service website. Browse the journal catalogue and search for articles in the social sciences, natural sciences, medicine and health sciences, agricultural and veterinary sciences, and humanities and arts.

The project

Development of the ePublishing platform and related electronic publishing services began in 2007 and concerns the publication and distribution of electronic journals (eJournals), conference proceedings (eProceedings) and monographs/books (eBooks). The services are constantly evolving for the benefit of publishers and users. In the current phase, the technological upgrade and expansion of ePublishing with new documentary actions is being carried out by EKT under the Project ‘National Research Information and Technology System: Digital Content Aggregation, Documentation and Dissemination Infrastructure ensuring interoperability, long-term preservation and open access ‘, which is implemented within the framework of the Operational Programme ‘Reform of the Public Sector’ (ESPA 2014-2020) and is co-financed by the European Union - European Regional Development Fund and national resources. In this context, EKT’s ePublishing platform is being upgraded and expanded to offer publishers new functionalities to facilitate their administrative tasks and users upgraded services for more efficient search and finding of digital material.
