The European Digital Competence Framework for Citizens DigComp 2.2 available in Greek

With the aim of maturing a national reference framework for the digital competence of citizens, the Greek version of the European Digital Competence Framework for Citizens DigComp 2.2 is now available in Greek.

The Greek edition of the European Digital Competence Framework for Citizens DigComp 2.2, released in 2022 by the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission, is now available to the Greek public from the General Secretariat for Digital Governance and Simplification of Procedures.

The Greek edition of DigComp 2.2 (DigComp 2.2: The Digital Competence Framework for Citizens) is part of the National Coalition for Digital Skills and Jobs. Also, it is in alignment with the Digital Transformation Bible, which is the national strategy for the digital transformation of the country.

The aim of the publication is to:

  • provide a common language to identify and describe the digital competence of citizens.
  • contribute to the formulation of the necessary policies in education and training, and the labour market.
  • offer opportunities for deeper insight into data protection and privacy issues in everyday communications and transactions.
  • contribute to reducing the digital divide at national and European level.
  • promote the uptake of DigComp 2.2 by organisations, educators and policy makers to create digital training programmes and self-assessment tools for citizens.

This DigComp 2.2 edition includes the translation into Greek of the updated reference framework which provides more than 250 new examples of knowledge, skills and attitudes that help citizens to use digital technologies confidently, critically and safely. The new version of DigComp 2.2 includes new and emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence systems. The English version of the JRC for DigComp 2.2 is available here.

The National Documentation Centre (EKT) actively participated in the translating of DigComp 2.2 into Greek.

EKT has also recently published in Greek, in collaboration with the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute, the European Framework for Digitally-Competent Educational Organisations (DigCompOrg), contributing to the digital transformation of education in Greece and Cyprus.

In the coming period, EKT, in collaboration with the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute, will publish in Greek the European Framework for the Digital Competence of Educators – (DigCompEdu).

The publications of the European Digital Competence Reference Frameworks are part of EKT's series of publications on Digital Transformation in the public and private sectors and the organisation's broader strategy to develop modern services and infrastructures for the dissemination of authoritative knowledge. The circulation of all three reference frameworks in Greek is expected to contribute decisively to the effort made in the country to cultivate the digital competence of citizens and the digital transformation of the Greek economy and society.
