LAPSI 2.0: Legal Aspects of Public Sector Information 2.0

The purpose of the project ‘Legal Aspects of Public Sector Information 2.0’ is to support access to content and the reuse of open data coming mainly from public sector information.

The aim of LAPSI 2.0 is to identify the legal obstacles to access and reuse of public sector information [PSI] - including innovation the protection of personal data - in the European content market and to propose measures and tools, so as to limit these obstacles and stimulate progress in the European market towards open data.

Result
LAPSI 2.0 will promote the exchange of knowledge and experience of the network participants who comprise the wide PSI community, it will increase the understanding of the legal aspects of PSI between participants in the European content market and it will highlight the importance of linking these legal aspects with the exchange of opinions regarding the technological, institutional and socio-economic impact of opening PSI for the creation of a multidisciplinary approach. LAPSI 2.0 will permit the cross-border use of PSI. It will stimulate the availability of open data and, finally, it will encourage economic growth in the information society. In this way, it will support European Commission’s Open Data Strategy by providing valuable advice about the vision of the European Commission regarding their Digital Agenda programme and their Europe 2020 strategy, as well as items of the ‘open data and access to scientific information’ ICT PSP Work Programme 2012.
