Dr Kyriakos Tolias is the Director of the National Documentation Centre (EKT). He holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence, and he is a Visiting Professor at the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT). He is specialized in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Generative Artificial Intelligence with memory and attention capabilities. He also holds an MSc in Data Communication from Kingston University of London, specializing in the analysis, exploitation and use of big data.
From 1999 until today, he has gained valuable work experience in both the private and public sectors. Until 2005, he worked as an information systems support and development manager at the Athens Exchange Group, while since 2005, he has held an established position as an executive of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission, responsible for the research and development of information systems and applications, as well as the planning and strategic development of the organization's digital transformation.
During his tenure, he had the chance to provide his services to key Public Sector services with the aim of digital transformation. As part of his academic involvement and collaboration with the Department of Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Informatics at CUT, he has supervised numerous research projects, where he organized and guided international interdisciplinary teams with a variety of academic and professional skills.
