PhD Theses

The  National Archive of PhD Theses is housed at EKT. Here, all PhDs  awarded by Greek universities to Greek as well as foreign students, are kept , although a number of PhDs awarded by foreign universities are also included in the archive. Most of the PhDs date from 1985 and onwards, but there are a few theses from as early as 1932.

ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global (PQDTGlobal) is the world's most comprehensive collection of dissertations and theses from around the world, spanning from 1743 to the present day and offering full text for graduate works added since 1997, along with selected full text for works written prior to 1997. It contains a significant amount of new international dissertations and theses both in citations and in full text.

You can gain access to the PhD theses in the following ways:

  •  A great number of greek PhDs are available electronically so can be accessed on or offsite via
  •  At the library, you can browse a greek thesis in its printed form with the helpdesk personnel. Theses which do not have e-open access are available through the printed archive.
  • You can access the subscriber-based database ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global (PQDTGlobal) via wi-fi from the actual library, EKT's electronic reading room and NHRF installations.
  • You can also use Document Delivery Services & Interlibrary Loans to order a thesis for which you do not have offsite access
