As part of its service for scholarly electronic publishing (http://epublishing.ekt.gr) EKT developed Open Book Press for the online publication of monographs of high scholarly and technical standards. Open Book Press supports scientific institutional publishers in transitioning to openly accessible digital books that are peer-reviewed and capitalize on internet technologies for the benefit of the advancement of research. Publishers have the opportunity to develop new Open Access Presses for monographs with our support for the technological infrastructure and consulting services for open access publishing.
EKT wishes to establish Open Book Press as a valued publishing and research venue for Greek publishers and researchers, with an emphasis on the Social Sciences and the Humanities. Open Book Press is a service for Greek institutional publishers with a not-for profit mission, such as universities, research centers, scholarly societies and memory institutions, among others. It aims to enable such institutions to transition gradually to new models of scholarly communication, where Open Access is the standard way of publishing research in the form of monographs. Open Book Press further aims to provide the forum to explore the sustainability of collaborative publishing models among institutions in the long-term.
Collaborating publishers are responsible for the scientific quality of the books produced and interested authors should address themselves directly to collaborating publishers.
EKT ePublishing comprises a suite of services and infrastructures, successfully deployed to facilitate the transition to the electronic publishing of high-quality publications, in the light of the current developments in scholarly communication. ePublishing capitalizes on EKT’s national institutional role to serve the academic and research community and enables, with technology and know-how, Greek institutional publishers to participate on equal terms in the international open access publishing ecosystem, while also helping make the country’s scholarly output more visible.
At all stages of the publication process, EKT ePublishing supports publishers, institutions and research bodies with a range of comprehensive services (technology, platform training, editorial and IP consulting, technical support, publicity, eknowledgebase), which aim at the standardisation of content management, publishing and indexing workflows. ePublishing features three dedicated platforms for academic journals, proceedings and monographs, exclusively designed to leverage the dynamic modules of electronic editions.
