Horizon Impact Award: European Commission rewards research projects which change the world for the better

The contest is open to legal entities or individuals who have implemented projects under Horizon 2020 or the 7th Framework Programme, which had a positive impact on society, the economy, governance or the environment.

The European Commission is launching a new prize, the Horizon Impact Award, dedicated to research projects funded by the EU, the results of which have broad societal impact. The award recognises and rewards the most important projects with measurable social impact, carried out under Horizon 2020, the EU research and innovation programme and its predecessor, the 7th Framework Programme (FP7, 2007-2013).

The contest is open to legal entities or individuals who have implemented projects that have had a positive impact on society, the economy, governance or the environment.

The Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, Carlos Moedas, stated: “Great science is what moves our world forward, and more than ever we look to the world of research for solutions to the challenges we are facing. With this award we want to celebrate the scientists whose work has made a difference to all of us in our daily lives”.

Five winners will receive 10,000 euros along with extensive publicity and the chance to network with leading enterprises and innovation ecosystem organisations.

The competition is only for completed projects that can demonstrate their positive impact.

The contest is open for applications until 28 May 2019.
